Community - Life Saving Pizza

Yep, that's right, no kidding....Life Saving Pizza & Pasta.

In a world heavily dictated by selfish economic structures, local business Earth 'n' Sea Pizza & Pasta Restaurants are showing the big guys a thing or two regarding best-practice business.

Trading successfully for 30 years, Earth 'n' Sea employs in excess of 40 local people. “We think it's important to the wealth of our region” says Denise Woolsey about resisting the growing business trend to employ transients at low wages. “It might cost us more in wages, but adds to customer satisfaction and the welfare of community”, says David Woolsey.

Apart from providing local jobs, the progressive business duo is committed to financially empowering the local business community. “Local suppliers come first”, beams Denise. Cape Byron Food, Fruitos for fruit & veg, local butcher Trevor Mead for fresh beef, and Country Fine Foods in Mullum for smallgoods.

Minimising food miles plays a role in all decision making processes. Earth 'n' Sea's operational systems show the big guys a thing or two about respecting our precious environment who generally make it standard business practise to mine from our community & its resources rather than enrich it. From recycled pizza boxes, Bio-Degradable Grease Traps and organic cleaning products, Earth 'n' Sea are Green Partners with ReGenesis' bio-recycling service and has an effective in-house recycling system.

Surf culture has always played a role at Earth ‘n' Sea including the sponsorship of several surf clubs and surfers from the Byron Bay area. “Supporting local endeavour is an important part of our business. Believing in community is essential, we feed the Street Cruise workers every Friday night because they are doing a admirable job for our kids, and many a night ends with a trip to the park with left-over food for the 'parkies'” says David.

The Green Pizza is a community favourite and also supports the Byron Youth Services each year with .50cents of every pizza being donated to BYS . This amount is matched dollar for dollar by the proprietors of Earth 'n' Sea who also feed the BYS “Street Cruisers” every Friday night.
